About this policy

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies braiventh.com uses, what each one does, and how you can change your mind. It applies alongside our privacy policy, which explains the wider picture of how we handle personal data. The site is operated by Braiventh, based in Belgium. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise something on your next request, such as the fact that you are signed in. Belgian and EU rules (the ePrivacy Directive, implemented in Belgian law, alongside the GDPR) treat any storage of information on your device the same way, so this policy also covers local storage and session storage, which do a similar job without being cookies.

The three categories

Cookies are usually grouped into three categories, and the rules differ for each:

• Strictly necessary. Needed to deliver a service you asked for, such as keeping you signed in or remembering your cookie choice. These are exempt from consent, and the site cannot work properly without them. They are never used to track you.
• Statistics and analytics. Used to understand how the site is used. Cookie-based analytics requires your consent before anything is stored on your device.
• Marketing and advertising. Used to build profiles, target advertising, or follow visitors across sites, and always requires consent. We do not use any.

Strictly necessary

These are the only items this site stores on your device by default. Two of the three are never created for an ordinary visitor at all.

• Your cookie choice — braiventh_consent. Records whether you accepted or refused the optional categories, along with the date you decided, so the banner does not ask again on every page. Stored for 6 months, or until you change it. Set by this site.
• Admin session — braiventh_admin. Created only when someone signs in to the private area used to publish blog posts, which is not linked from the site and is not available to visitors. It holds a signed token proving that this browser logged in, expires after 7 days, and is set as httpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax so it cannot be read by scripts or sent from other sites. If you have never signed in as an administrator, this cookie does not exist in your browser.
• Chat conversation key — braiventh-chat-session. Not a cookie: a random identifier held in your browser's session storage so the assistant can follow the thread of a conversation. It is created only when you send your first message to the assistant, is never created if you do not use it, contains no information about you, is never sent to another website, and is erased by your browser when you close the tab.

Statistics and analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages are useful. We chose it precisely because it does not need consent: it sets no cookies, writes nothing to your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to other websites. What we see are aggregated counts of page views, referring sites, countries, and device categories, which do not identify anyone.

If we ever add analytics that does store something on your device, it will sit behind the statistics option in the cookie banner and will load only after you turn it on. Nothing in this category is active before you agree.

Marketing and advertising

None. This site runs no advertising, no remarketing tags, no social media pixels, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. We list the category here for completeness, and so it is clear that nothing in it could ever be switched on without you agreeing to it first. If that ever changes, this page will name what was added before it is used, and your consent will be asked for again.

Other things worth knowing

Because this site is delivered through Cloudflare, Cloudflare processes technical connection data such as your IP address to route and protect the request. That happens at the network level rather than by storing anything on your device. Our server also counts requests per IP address in memory for a few minutes to throttle abuse of the chat assistant and the admin login. Neither of those uses a cookie, and both are explained in the privacy policy.

Fonts are served from this site's own domain rather than fetched from Google, and the site embeds no third-party video players, maps, or social widgets, so no other company is quietly setting cookies through pages you read here.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

Refusing optional cookies is as easy as accepting them, and you can change your mind at any time. Reopen your preferences from the cookie settings link in the site footer, adjust the categories, and save. Withdrawing consent does not make anything that happened beforehand unlawful, and it does not affect strictly necessary items, which remain in place because the site cannot function without them.

You can also control cookies in your browser: every major browser lets you view and delete stored cookies, block them, or clear them automatically when you close it. Clearing them will also remove the record of your choice here, so the banner will ask again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
